2001 Copeland Creek Vineyards Meritage

  • 100% Estate grown grapes.
  • Vineyard planted in 1992.
  • All wines sold off in bulk until the first commercial bottling of the 2000.
  • Small lots bottled from 1997 and 1999 for our reference library.
  • Blend is 44% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot.
  • The main flavor (ripe black cherry) is ONLY from the Cabernet Franc.
  • Harvested 12 tons from 3 acres of vines.
  • Sugar at harvest: 25.5 Brix.
  • Fermented in small open top fermenters, cold soaked for four days, punched down up to four times daily, and then gently pressed into barrels after four weeks.
  • Complete malolactic fermentation.
  • Aged two years in 100% French oak (25% new).
  • Alcohol 13.9%.
  • Bottled 892 cases in November 2003.
